How many difficulty levels are there?

Featherweight launch posts describe ten “increasingly horrible” difficulty levels for full runs—for example “Chained Beasts - Launch Price Reveal” (Steam announcement, 2026-10-07) and the launch-day “Chained Beasts is available NOW” post (2026-10-15). A tier called Jupiter is named separately, in the Steam achievement King of the Gods (Win a run on Jupiter difficulty); where it sits in the ladder is not stated.

The demo publicly named four tiers:

  • Pleb
  • Legionnaire
  • Centurion
  • Hades

Those four appear in “The Updated Chained Beasts Demo is LIVE!” (Steam announcement, 2026-05-29) and “Chained Beasts Charges Into Steam Next Fest June 15–22!” (Steam announcement, 2026-06-12). The full retail ladder’s ten names and order—beyond Jupiter and the demo quartet—are not listed in the official sources we read as of 2026-10-16.

Gameplay impact Qualitative “more horrible” marketing Numeric HP/damage/affliction modifiers

What does Jupiter mean in achievements?

Steam achievement text:

  • Name: King of the Gods
  • Requirement: Win a run on Jupiter difficulty

Featherweight has not said in plain language where Jupiter sits among the ten levels, or whether it is the highest one, in the sources we read. We do not rank it.

We do not list intermediate tier names (for example, Tribune) unless Featherweight confirms them. You may see other names listed elsewhere; we only list names confirmed by official sources.

Does difficulty change mechanics?

Official posts say higher settings make your crew prove its resolve, and marketing ties difficulty to afflictions, skills, and items at a high level.

Specific rules—enemy health scaling, timer changes, extra affixes per night, or Trainer costs—are not disclosed in store requirements, achievements, or the announcements we verified. This site will not invent curves or “best difficulty for farming.”

Boss escalation is narrative (Carthage → Germania → Rome) rather than a documented per-tier stat table; see the all bosses overview for named encounters only.

Is Hades still in the full ten tiers?

Not confirmed. Hades is documented for the demo difficulty picker, but retail posts jump straight to “ten increasingly horrible” wording without republishing the full list. Treat Hades as demo-verified until Featherweight maps it to a retail slot.

Will difficulty expand after launch?

Featherweight’s roadmap plans Update 1.1 (December 2026) with a new arena, boss, weapon, and enemies, plus later PVP in Q1 2027. That schedule does not promise new difficulty names—track timing on the roadmap and Update 1.1 page.

  • Verified: 2026-10-16. We did not publish a ten-row difficulty chart, stat modifiers, or Hades retail placement because Featherweight has not disclosed them. Where Jupiter sits in the ladder is not stated, so we do not rank it.
